SUMMARY: In the essay, "Working Mothers Are Benefiting the Family" by Supreet Mann she claims that working women are benefiting the family. She argues about stereotyping against women and gives examples on how it is benefiting for women to work. Mann says, "While some believe that working women are harming the family, I feel that working women are benefiting their families and teaching their children valuable life lessons." Supreet Mann quotes (karaim) "Two-parent families in which both parents work make an average of 26,000 more than families in which only one parent works." She states that she has seen many examples of this in her own life. She says that in her family, having a mother that works has made enormous financial benefits. Supreet Mann claims that their dependent on her mother's job for their health and dental insurance, which without life would be much more difficult for them. Finally Supreet Mann concludes that not only do working women bring an extra income, but they help to instill in their children a good work ethic.
RESPONSE: I totally agree with what Supreet Mann states because I do feel that working women benefit the family. For example, my mother has been working all her life ever since I can remember. My mother has supported me and has provided for me whenever I needed her. I'm glad she has a job because she shows me she is strong enough to do it all on her own. She has showed me to be independent and a hard working lady. Some may argue that working women are causing divorce and are not having time for their family. I disagree with that because anything can cause a divorce, it's always up to you to make your own choices. And even though women may not have enough time for their kids there is always more free time and the father can also be there for their children. It all depends on how you handle the situation. You should always put your part and effort in your family. So people should break that stereotype of women having to be home instead of working. Working women are independent, intelligent, successful, and determined. That's why people should find it benefiting for a women to work and women should be held in high esteem for their contribution.
